About the event
On June 19, 2022, hip hop heavyweights and local canna leaders will come together to create a free event to celebrate this historical holiday with a mission to raise awareness to those who are still incarcerated for cannabis related crime, as well as those who are still struggling because of a cannabis related crime on their personal record.
The event will feature speakers set to highlight the public at large on cannabis laws that are currently changing daily, educate those on the proven medical benefits of this all-natural healing agent, and the understanding of safe and responsible consumption. Speakers include NERA Detroit Founder Zeek and Najanava Harvey-Quinn Founder of The Clean Smoke Organization.
The event will be hosted by Comic J Will, who’s recently been featured in Big Sean’s video, “Single Again.” Other artists set to perform include, Peezy Te, Jackpot the Juice Willy, J Peso, RGS Dame Dot, Big Eff, Eastside Eggroll , Skilla Baby , 9721 Ent, with headlining performances by rap artist, Peezy Te. Fans of Peezy Te will see the artist in a different setting, as he will be promoting a great cause. The Legendary artist Trick Trick will be on the turntables, spinning records. The event will also honor one special day with a Father’s Day Award.
Free The Culture Music Festival will begin at 4:00pm-9:00pm. This all-ages event is made possible by The Weed Bar, Fly Society Social, Embarco Entertainment, Herbology Cannabis Co., Slurred Exotics. Although the event is free, there will be QR Codes throughout the plaza encouraging festival attendees to donate to New ERA Detroit.
New ERA Detroit was founded in 2014, in an effort to bring black unity within black communities by empowering and encouraging black residents in Detroit to get involved and be aware.
